Size of Fish Tank
Most “experts” will agree that you are better off purchasing the biggest and best aquarium that you can afford…..at the beginning. From a decorator’s perspective, you probably will not want something that will dominate your room, but to have healthy fish, you will need a fish tank that provides a large space to swim and a good air to water surface ratio. Purchasing a large tank will also prevent you from having to spend as much time on cleaning and other tank maintenance. The reason is that it is easier to maintain stable water quality in a larger tank than in a smaller one.
Keep in mind that ‘unwanted visitors’ (disease) don’t knock on the tank door–they are introduced with new fish, plants etc. You can limit the odds of introduction by using a quarantine tank.
It is a good idea to quarantine all fish for four to six weeks before introducing them to an existing tank
Keep the tank in good shape and perform maintenance routinely. In quarantine, a fish can be treated for specific, known possible pathogens such as parasites quite easily, without subjecting your other, ‘clean’ fish to the treatment. Any stress is minimized, and confined.
Many people believe that going out and buying distilled water, or Reverse Osmosis, will be good for betta fish. Think about the natural environment. (This is what you should always be thinking about when trying to create a home for your creatures). You don’t often see fish swimming around in distilled water. Often the water is something you would never swim in yourself, much less drink.
The Betta fish is one of the most beautiful aquatic creatures you can use to decorate your fish tank. It is not just beautiful, but also quite intelligent. People love this fish because of its inquisitive nature. You would love to interact and play with this fish when you are at home.
This fish looks entertaining when it is active in the tank. You won’t find it too pleasing when the fish stops responding. Being an intelligent creature, it always searches for new things. The same kind of surrounding and same objects can bore your fish. Therefore, you should bring some Betta fish toys to keep it entertained.
Here’s my list of things to do that will help make you a more responsible hobbyist. By following these guidelines, you’ll also be doing your part to force all sectors of the aquarium industry to engage in more responsible and environmentally-sound practices.
This is the number one reason for failure! If keeping an aquarium was as easy as filling a container with water and throwing in some fish, everyone would be successful. The truth is, eight out of ten new hobbyists give up within a year. Most of those unfortunates never bothered to read even one book! The most important thing you can do is to educate yourself about the hobby you have chosen.

If you are afraid, manufacture a sense of GRATITUDE. This will wipe out the emotion of fear.
We see many people everyday in our lives, a lot of them becoming successful in their career, in their studies, in relationships. We often see a lot of successful people on television, talking about their successes and hard work, but we don’t realize that behind every success there is a lot of determination and goal settings done by the person.
Goal Settings? Is that so important? Goal Settings is very important, you may never realise it but whatever you do is striving for a goal. When you learn, you are striving for the goal to get better results which would let you get a good job, and when you work, your goal is to earn money and live a better life. Thus our life revolves around goals and achieving them. When we were young, or in school, our parents and teachers always ask us to write down our goals for exams, our goals for the year or next etc, why? so that we can be succesful in whatever we plan to do, be it that year or in the exams, why the most successful people do that, they set goals and targets for themselves.
Knowingly or unknowingly we would have made personal goals in our lives. New Year’s Resolution, goals like studying harder for exams or getting better grades, or to save up to buy a car by the next year or pay off your house loan, these are all goals, personal goals. These goals are just that personal, its how you make these goals and achieve it, which can be similar to everyone.
Many people in the world have tried personal goal settings, it may have worked out for some but may no have worked out for others. Some would have found it difficult to achieve the goals they have set. Yes we hear alot of “you got to set goals“, “you got to work harder”, however, unless we have in mind what we really want to become and what we really want to do in life, and knowing your own interests, skills, capabilities, it would be very difficult to achieve personal goals. It would be too overwhelming.
Time – stuff that life is made of. Time management – a concept widely propagated, hardly followed. Time management is not a diet you get on or a temporary situation; it is a skill that you practice everyday for the rest of your life. Sounds scary and terribly boring? But imagine yourself going to bed every night happy with the way you have lived that day: no more chores carried over to the next day and actually being ahead of your schedule.
Don’t let your days blur past you, never knowing what you did the whole of last week. The first rule to manage your time (your life) effectively is to get yourself organized. Organizing yourself, your home and workplace can help you accomplish tasks on time, meet deadlines and more importantly reduce stress. How much time do we spend worrying over what needs to be done and how little time we have to do it? We hardly ever realize how much tension we put ourselves through. For peace of mind, get on with the organizing.
Happiness. What is it really? Is it making someone else happy? Buying a new car? A vacation to the beach? No matter who you are or what your ambitions are, underneath it all life is just a quest for happiness. To the eternal pessimist, happiness does not exist and we are all fated to doom but to the eternal optimist, happiness is simply a state of mind. With a little positive thinking, happiness can be a natural part of your everyday life.
Positive thinking can make you happy, keep you happy and above all, give you strength to get through the rough patches. In our fast-paced world where the boundaries have all blurred, it is hard to define what happiness really is. One man’s happiness seems like another’s misery. But it really is not so; it exists within you and this section will focus on staying positive and achieving the benefits of it.
